In my rush to find “something” as far as employment in Austin, I gave little thought to where/what I would be doing. I needed work and I needed it soon. Work started for me this week and I’m pleasantly surprised. Gone are the weeks of carrying a pager trying to keep 1100+ big box retail stores running. There is no after-hours support here. Gone are the seemingly miles and miles of cubical farm space. I have my own office - WITH FOUR COMPLETE WALLS AND A DOOR! This is also quite a slowdown in terms of pace, which I welcome. I think I’m going to like it here.
On the entertainment front, Jessi and I have our Cinco de Mayo planned. On May 5th this year, we’ll be at the Alamo Drafthouse Theater watching Napoleon Dynamite with Jon Gries. Who is Jon Gries, you ask? Jon Gries IS Uncle Rico. That’s right - he’s going to be there watching the movie and speaking with the audience.
Damn, I love this town.
